Conference Program as at 17 June 2005(SUBJECT TO REVISION)Download in pdf format Download in Word format PROVISIONAL CONFERENCE PROGRAM7 JUNE 2005This preliminary program may change slightly if there are any cancellations between now and the dates of the conference. This draft program includes all papers that were confirmed as at Tuesday 7 June 2005. A final conference program including panel chairpersons and room allocations at the Ambassador Hotel will be included in the conference kit to be distributed to participants from the registration desk in Bangkok. Some panels in this program are slightly overbooked. Rather than reject papers, we decided to include ALL confirmed papers in a panel even if this means some presenters may have a bit less than 30 minutes for their presentation. The limitations of the conference venue together with our small and overextended budget mean that we have not been able to rent any more breakout rooms for parallel sessions. We hope that conference chairpersons and presenters will understand the limitations we are working under and keep their presentations within the time allotted. The conference program is now full and the program is closed. We regret that no more papers can be included in the program. DAY THEMESEach of the three days of the conference will have a thematic focus reflected in the topics covered in the plenary sessions and in the streams of panels programmed for each day.
Day 1 – 7 July – Rights CONFERENCE STREAMSPanels and papers have been programmed into several thematic streams to permit participants with specific interests to attend as many sessions as possible on the topic that is most relevant to them. The conference streams are:
Cinemas and Media Not every paper fits neatly into one of these streams. However, wherever possible we have tried make sure that nominated panels and individual papers on a given theme are placed together. We have also tried to make sure that papers from a given thematic stream are scheduled so they do not clash in the program. But this has not always been possible. NOMINATED PANELSWherever possible we have tried to accommodate the requests for nominated panels that were proposed to us. In some cases we have added individual papers on the same theme as a nominated panel. We hope this will be OK with panel convenors. In several cases not everyone from a nominated panel has registered. In these cases we have assumed that some people have either withdrawn or are unable to attend. In these cases we have treated the confirmed papers from nominated panels as individual papers and placed them into other panels in the most relevant thematic stream. NOMINATING PANEL CHAIRPERSONSWe still welcome nominations for panel chairs. If you would like to nominate someone who you know will be attending the conference please contact us at the conference email address, quoting the panel number and letting us know the full name and contact details of your nominated chairperson.
